National Biodiesel Accreditation Program (BQ-9000)
Downs Energy is the only certified BQ-9000 Marketer in California.
The National Biodiesel Accreditation Program is a cooperative and voluntary program for the accreditation of producers and marketers of biodiesel fuel called BQ-9000®. The program is a unique combination of the ASTM standard for biodiesel, ASTM D6751, and a quality systems program that includes storage, sampling, testing, blending, shipping, distribution, and fuel management practices.
BQ-9000® helps companies improve their fuel testing and greatly reduce any chance of producing or distributing inadequate fuel. To receive accreditation, companies must pass a rigorous review and inspection of their quality control processes by an independent auditor. This ensures that quality control is fully implemented.
Downs Energy has earned the right to the label of BQ-9000® Marketer. This category is for distribution companies who sell biodiesel and biodiesel blends. This is an important designation, because proper handling of biodiesel is as critical to fuel quality as proper production.

SIGMA
Founded in 1958, the Society of Independent Gasoline Marketers of America (SIGMA) has become a fixture in the motor fuel marketing industry. Over 50 years of leadership, SIGMA is still the national trade association representing the most successful, progressive, and innovative independent marketers and chain retailers in the United States.
From the outset, the association has served to further the interests of this independent segment of the industry while providing information and services to members.
SIGMA represents 265 regular member companies operating in all 50 states plus Canada. SIGMA regular members sold approximately 37 percent of the estimated 172 billion gallons of motor fuel sold in the U.S. in 2008.

CIOMA
The California Independent Oil Marketers Association (CIOMA) is the industry's statewide association of independent wholesale and retail marketers of gasoline, diesel, lubricating oils and other petroleum products. CIOMA members continue to expand their businesses to include C-Stores, car washes, card locks and other related trade.
CIOMA works with city, county, state and federal governments to inform elected and regulatory officials about petroleum marketers' concerns. CIOMA helps its members stay aware of state and local issues that will affect their businesses, employees and communities. CIOMA is the industry legislative and regulatory watchdog.
CIOMA has approximately 450 members, including nearly 90% of all the independent petroleum marketers in the state.
